Mingus Park
Located two blocks North of Central Ave, Mingus Park features picnic tables, a playground and a swimming pool. At the center of the park is a lake and lit fountains,surrounded by a paved walking trail. The Choshi Gardens are also located within the park.

The park showcases planted gardens with plants and flowers from all over the world, sheltered ocean coves, a historical mansion and an information center.

While the area is a little hard to find, it is well worth the effort. Hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing and picnic areas are available at Golden and Silver Falls.

The Choshi Gardens is a Japanese garden created in honor of Coos Bay's sister city Choshi, Japan. The gardens feature numerous manicured sections of plants and flowers, the Morning Song Bridge, the Pond of Illusion, the Snow Lantern, concrete and rock terraces and Gambusia fish.
